Agate
Agate is one of the alternative birthstones for the month of May.
It's a variety of chalcedony quartz creatively striped by nature. The stone was given its name by a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shoreline of the river Achates in Sicily sometime between 4th and 3rd centuries BC.
Legend says that agate improves memory and concentration, increases stamina and encourages honesty.
