Aventurine
Aventurine is one of the alternative birthstones for the month of August.
This gemstone is a form of quartz and the most common colour of aventurine is green, but it may also come in other colours. The name aventurine derives from the Italian "a ventura" meaning "by chance" - this is an allusion to the lucky discovery of aventurine glass which was mistaken for goldstone by Murano glassmakers in Venice at some point in the 18th century.
The majority of green and blue-green aventurines originate from India. It is called the ‘lucky talisman’ and is supposed to increase libido, reduce stress, and strengthen blood and muscle tissues.
