The latest jewellery trends...my top 7 themes and elements
November 6, 2011
In this post I’d like to cover the latest and greatest fashion jewellery trends emerging this fall and winter season. I’ve been trying to keep up with the trends while creating my newest creations so I’ll post examples of my work to go with each of the trends. Here are my top 7 trends:
1. Peacocks and feathers
Peacock pendants and brooches, peacock feathers and peacock colour scheme (teal, green and brown) are all the rage this season. The most beautiful colours schemes are definitely created by nature. Here is my take on the peacock craze.
2. Vintage style and cameos
Vintage jewellery is very elegant and beautiful - it usually has an antique metal element (antiqued silver or gold) and incorporates vintage elements such as cameos, cherubs and lockets. I love this look, here are a couple of my cameo necklaces.
3. Pearls and mother of pearl
Pearls really never go out of style but now you can see such a variety of different pearls – from fresh waterpearls to glass pearls in all shapes and sizes; from traditional white and ivory colours to purple and red-coloured pearls. Mother of pearl beads and medallions are also very popular and look so pretty and also come in a variety of beautiful colours.
4. Flora and fauna
You can find a variety of pendants and beads incorporating flora and fauna elements such as flowers, leaves, butterflies, birds, owls, dragonflies, sea creatures (sea horses, sea stars, fish, turtles, etc.) and even leopards. Here are a few of my necklaces with flora and fauna elements.
5. Fabric Flowers
Fabric elements add extra texture, elegance and femininity to jewellery. My favourites are fabric flowers as well as fabric-covered beads. Fabric ribbons and bows also add a special elegant touch to jewellery.
6. Natural look
Natural-style jewellery is characterized by incorporating elements found in nature such as wood, unpolished stones and shells. Jewellery designs incorporating these rustic elements can be very elegant and unique. Here are a few of my examples.
7. Oriental style
Oriental style can be detected in a variety of elements such as white and blue china beads, metal fans and pagodas as well as sakura-themed medallions. I really like this style as it’s so rich in culture and beauty; here are some of my designs inspired by the Orient.
Until next time,
Irina K.
