Peridot
Peridot is a birthstone for the month of August and the zodiac sign of Leo (Jul 23 - Aug 22) as well as the 16th wedding annversary gemstone.
Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color - green which varies from yellow-green to olive-green to bottle-green. The intensity of the color depends on the presence of iron.
It is not clear whether the word "peridot" comes from the Arabic word "faridat", which means "gem" or if it is derived from the French word "peritot" which means "unclear". Peridot is associated with good luck, good health and peace. It enhances prosperity and growth. It also symbolizes strength, faithfulness and truth.
