Rock Crystal is the semi-precious birthstone for the month of April and the zodiac sign of Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 19).
It's a transparent, colourless variety of quartz. Long ago, people believed that rock crystal was a compact form of ice and hence the name - 'crystallos' means 'ice'.
