Tourmaline
Tourmaline is the semi-precious birthstone for the month of October, the zodiac sign of Libra (Sep 23 - Oct 22) and 38th wedding anniversary.
The name “tourmaline” comes from the Singhalese words “tura mali” which means “stone with mixed colours'” referring to the colour spectrum of this gemstone. Tourmaline is also called “gemstone of the rainbow."
Tourmalines are mined everywhere in the world including Africa, Afghanistan, Africa, Australia, Brazil, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Siberia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, the USA, and Zimbabwe.
Magical powers have been attritbuted to it since ancient times. In particular, it's considered to be the gemstone of love and friendship, and is said to render them firm and long-lasting.
